It is extremely important that we have only one person in contact with a local authority at a time. There's really nothing which can be more damaging to our efforts than mismanaging this and annoying some poor civil servant, thus making her/him less willing to help us.

Contacted Feb 6: Marion Ready reports that everyone's in a meeting, that under normal circumstances I could just pop in and get a paper copy for a couple of €, and that therefore probably it's fine to email it. But she'll call back later with more once she knows she's able to locate it.
Re-contacted Feb 20. Tried to fob me off with a call-you-back for a third time, electoral officer apparently thinking about refusing to hand over the data.
Feb 21: Finally Electoral Officer calls this morning relating a truly ridiculous story being pushed by the IS department, who reckon that while it's OK to send us a paper copy of the index, emailing it would somehow be a grievous breach of their license from the Ordnance Survey. Translation: IS dept can't be bothered and are lying. Will be speaking later. EO asked for URL to the dev site.
